We should be careful how we live because God “punishes the children and their children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation.” (Exodus 34:7, NIV) We all have free will and need to be aware of our family’s generational curses yet realize that those curses will not automatically come upon us. But we do need a predetermined mindset to say “No” when facing temptations.

Alcohol was a problem in my father-in-law’s home; his dad was an alcoholic. During the Great Depression work was scarce and my sweet father-in-law needed a job. He was offered a job driving a beer truck, but because of his faith and his dad’s alcoholism, he didn’t want anything to do with alcohol and would not take the job. He had a predetermined mindset to say “No” to alcohol. Have a mindset to say “No” to your family’s generational curses.

My father-in-law passed a blessing down to our family in that my husband also said “No” to alcohol. I was impressed when I learned that President Donald Trump has said “No” to alcohol as well.
